It's that time of year again. Girl Scout Cookies.
Having been a Girl Scout in Bedford, Ohio, I remember picking up my cookies from the cookie chairperson. The carrier box was brown cardboard and cleverly designed so that an assortment of the cookies fit inside and the top of the box formed a carrying handle. This was a time when the girls actually sold the cookies door to door so carrying the product was important to the success of the scout.
The day I picked up the box was a snowy day. I remember carrying the brown box with green printing home through the snow and the early darkness of winter. The flakes were large and wet and quickly covered my woolen knit beret, the shoulders of my coat and the top of the box.
Now moms of Girl Scouts are my suppliers of the sweet delicacies I anticipate this time of year. I am patiently waiting for my delivery of Thin Mints, Trefoils and Somoas.
You can meet the other cookies in the Girl Scout Cookie line up.
